Great track and cool performance! Is anyone else amused by TM's changing persona over the years? Anyone who has heard one of her interviews and seen one of her shows knows that the stage persona is distinct from the off-stage person. I get the impression that the distinction was even greater in her earliest performing days. It's interesting to hear a recording such as this one that displays the faux country girl persona of her earlier years. (ITB Raleigh is a long way from Bynum.)

That picture actually earned me a little money. Fender Guitar ran it in the Guild Guitar catalog the next year, and the check they sent me was so cool - a big red guitar imprinted across the check - I almost didn't cash it.

This must be the guitar that made TM "look like a midget," as she told a radio interviewer when explaining why Chris Stamey gave her the acoustic guitar she uses now.

I did not even realize until relatively recently that Tift had switched to Gibson so I had to zoom in on one of my pictures to see the guitar lable. She plays the same red color and wears the same bare spot on it - or is that part of the TM(tm) Guitar Model Design? So now I notice that shieldy thing is white on the Gibson and dark on the Guild, and it looks like she must've switched in '06 sometime?

Mitch, I noticed the change in stage persona, too. She sounds very country in both the banter and the song. I am putting that down on my list of things to tease her about.
