Thanks for the Advert, Admin. Just in time for early shopping to guarantee a Merritt Tiftmas! I have a feeling someone in this house isn't about to wait for Christmas to get a copy of the ACL DVD with Tift, though. I'll have to stock Phillip's stocking with booze again, probably. |

| I took it upon myself to test-drive the pre-order page to make sure it works. Seems to work fine, and final confirmation of that theory should arrive in the mail around 11/1. |

Yabba dabba doo!
But can we get this in the UK/Europe? Checked the awarestore.com website and can't see anything about international shipping rates etc, or is the DVD likely to be available on amazon like several of the other 'Live from Austin TX' series (Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle etc) ?
ps. in a Tift-related factoid... did you know the theme song to the ACL tv episodes is: "an original composition by Austin musician Charlie Sexton, who has played with Bob Dylan and the Arc Angels and appeared on the show with Double Trouble in 2001."

| Whats the sound the angels make? Thats what I heard when I saw the preorder page. I can't wait to get my hands on this and force all my non T loving friends to watch it until they succumb. |

I have no doubt you will do just that, Z.
I think it's cool that Charlie S wrote the ACL theme. |

I'm confused. I only remember two songs from the Austin City Limits show, not a whole album's worth.
Also, why does Andie's profile have a picture of Meryl Streep? |

Andy - awarestore.com does ship to the UK. They were very good when I ordered something from them. But we'd need to know if the dvd has regional restrictions. I got a Widespread Panic one that doesn't, so here's hoping.
Is this the show from a while back that had Ryan Adams on the other half? Or something else? I get my TX festivals muddled! |

| Yes, this should be the show where Ryan Adams was the other half. Nice of them to package it separately for us! |

| Yes, that was somewhat of a pleasant surprise. (The separate packaging.) Here's the deal: We're all counting on this DVD to sort of carry things for T through the fall until the run-up to release of the album, so please bother your radio stations about it (and send us their info so we can pass it to mgmt), talk it up, tell Santa about it--you know the drill. Thanks. |

Filberthockey,
I think the ACL program used about five tracks from what was apparently a much longer show. Cool.
I hope the DVD includes the canned intro from the show, which goes something like this: "Now the high-energy roots rock of Tift Merritt!"
The first time I heard that, I laughed at the "high-energy" reference. While the phrase is certainly accurate, that was the first time I had heard those words in a musical context that did not involve beat-heavy, synthesizer-driven dance club music. |

Vicky, that's a good question. We'll try to find an answer about the region code.
Also, I am trying to work on changing the main heading to an announcement about the DVD, but The War by Ken Burns has been dominating my nights. |

This was the broadcast Tift set:
Tift Merritt Song List, Recorded 10/20/2005 (by the way ACL often broadcasts the songs in a different order than they were played): Good Hearted Man Still Pretending Neighborhood Shadow in the Way When I Cross Over
And you all have probably seen the DVD setlist (which I am hoping was the actual order..) 1) Stray Paper 2) Virginia, No One Can Warn You 3) Ain't Looking Closely 4) Still Pretending 5) Supposed To Make You Happy 6) Good Hearted Man 7) Neighborhood 8) I Am Your Tambourine 9) Shadow In The Way 10) When I Cross Over |

I went back and watched the recording of the broadcast I have and was reminded of how exciting this band is live. Neighborhood is just tearing it up! Tift and Brad (in his purple shirt!) rocking out together on electric guitars is way cool. Zeke looks really into it on When I Cross Over. It looks and sounds like they were in the groove that night, so it will be great to get five more songs on the official release from this great show!
Can't wait for the next band tour! |

| The War on PBS has been exceptional. I never saw his documentary on The Civil War, but I'll have to watch that now. |
