I've only caught 2 episodes, so far, and have last nights on my DVR. Its very interesting, and Burns isn't sugar coating anything.
Very cool to hear the veterans tell their stories. Here is a fun fact to know and tell. The USS North Carolina, docked in Wilmington NC,
one of Tift's favorite towns, was involved in 15 major battles in the Pacific during WWII.

Yes she did, Mr. 3.  It's been too long since I spent some quality time aboard and we are due for that.  Back in '98 I finished up an M.A. in maritime history at ECU and one could claim that I have somewhat of a ship fetish.  My current desktop (which at various times has been Andie, TM, my boat, other pics of Andie, TM, or my boat) is a pic of USS NC at anchor during her second set of sea trials in Puget Sound 1940.

I've made a note to myself to never complain about anything ever again. After seeing what some people went through, my problems are trivial.

And that's what THEY think, too. It's a wonder they didn't come back and gun down anyone who irritated them.

Some of the footage he found and used that had not been widely seen before was horrific. Burns did an outstanding job, as usual.

His Civil War was great, Chris. Definitely see it.
