Hello,

I've been a fan since the Tambourine album. I have never had a chance to see Tift live. I have two GA tickets for Fitzgerald's in Berwyn, IL.  This may sound like an odd question but I've never seen Tift play.  The doors open an hour before the show.  The tickets I have are GA.  I know what GA means and is.  If I want to secure good "seats/position", how early should I line up for admittance?  I'm not sure how to word this correctly.  Is there a huge following of Tift in the midwest?  I just want to know what I can anticipate in terms of a potential of a large line for when I arrive and wait for admittance. Thanks.

Rich

PS Sorry for the odd question but thanks in advance.

Hi Rich--that's always a valid question for a GA show. FitzGerald's has a 300 capacity. Web site says doors 7 so you may want to call and confirm for that specific night. In my experience, getting to a club an hour before doors to see her works out well for being down front. Anyone else have a different experience recently?

Thanks Phillip. I'm excited about seeing Tift in July. It's less than a month away. Curious, how many members of this board are playing on attending the gig in Fitzgerald's next month?

That very question reminds me of some e-mails I need to send Chicago-way--thanks.

Phillip,

How have Tift's previous Midwest shows fared attendance wise?  Should I expect a large turnout at Fitzgerald's next month?

Rich

So, who else is going to go see Tift at Fitzgerald's on July 12th? I'm psyched, I have my 2 GA tickets in my possession, they arrived yesterday in the mail.

Rich,

I have only been to six shows and my experience has been if you are there 1 hour before it starts you will be right up front where you want to be. If this is your first time to see Tift Live your in for a REAL treat !!! I don't have tickets, but my girlfriend is trying to talk me into going to Chicago since she is originally from the Windy City. If we pull the trigger and decide to go I'll let you know. Enjoy the show !

Rich--sorry I missed the follow-up here--the last Chicago show sold out, so I would expect the same to be on the safe side. Phillip

rmats,

Fitzgerald's usually has tables and chairs set up.  It is decorated like a "honky-tonk" and has even been used as that in movies.  If the demand for tickets is high, they will remove tables near the front to make room for more people.  Food is served, so you can get there early and have dinner while you're killing time.   The food is done by Wishbone, which most people like.  If you get there 45 minutes early, you should be able to get good seats.

The tables in the center area hold 4-6 people, with smaller tables on the edge of the room.  Tables between the stage and the soundboard are the best, in my opinion (I like to sit a little back from the stage to get better sound).

Street parking is usually pretty easy.  Let me know if you have any questions.

Bill
