Both sides of that 45 have been uploaded as 96-proof bootlegs, so you should be able to listen to them by going to the "downloads" page.

I notice that your amended initial entry has question marks by the other songs. Tift definitely wrote everything else on the "Please ..." EP. I think she wrote all of the other songs in question as well.

If you plan to replace your question marks with the name of the songwriter (as opposed to the artist who originally recorded the track), then "Who Loves the Sun" was written by Lou Reed. He wrote it for the Velvet Underground, which recorded the track for the "Loaded" album.

Easy To Change - ?
Heart Run Wild - ?

These two are Tift compositions, Easy To Change is a Tambourine outtake and Heart Run Wild is an Another Country outtake, I believe.  I'm not aware of any other Tambourine studio outtakes or bonus discs.  I'm also not aware of any Bramble Rose studio outtakes or bonus tracks.  And I believe you have listed all the Another Country studio outtakes that I'm aware of.

There is that version of Woodstock (Joni Mitchell, CSNY) on the Fantasy Records promo comp that was mentioned on the board a few weeks ago.  Also there is Tift's verrsion of the Beatles' Long and Winding Road that was an internet track, I think from the MSN sessions. You can get a couple versions of Bob Dylan's A Hard Rain's A Gonna Fall from the downloads page here.

And for live stuff, there are some original Tift songs written around the time of the Tambourine songs that were played live at Cat's Cradle in 2003 just before Tambourine recording sessions but I don't believe they were ever recorded in the studio.  Maybe those will appear on 96 Proof Bootlegs one day?  The Last Day I Knew What To Do is a Tift original played on the Tambourine tour and live versions of it are already up on this website.  I don't think it was done in the studio, either, but I could be wrong.  And then there are other Tift originals that there are live versions of from the Bramble Rose tour, but no studio recordings to my knowledge, and they are up on this site : Lorraine, The Longest Way, Ain't The Kind You Like.

And then there are the live covers, just a handful, really, of Two More Bottles of Wine, Ghetto, Comfort You, etc, that are also in the downloads section of this page.

I don't have a handle on the pre-Bramble Rose stuff, maybe someone else can comment on those songs?  Filbert?

Shug, you are correct that rarities from the 2003 Cat's Cradle show are likely to end up as 96-proofers.

There is one catch. The e-mail listing the titles of those mystery tracks has been lost to the sands of time. If you still have that information, that would definitely help.

Thanks!

I saw the "b sides and rarities" subject, so I had to jump in and add something.  Fantasy Records was merged with Concord back in '04.  So far, Soo is the only person I know lucky enough to possess the Fantasy Promo containing "Woodstock".  I sure hope The Cat's Cradle tracks turn up somewhere, I almost made a show at the Cradle a few years back while visiting my Aunt, but I just couldn't do it.  The Cat's Cradle looks like an awesome venue and I regret missing that opportunity.  Also of mention, Tift's "Broken" will be featured on the KGSR 107.1 Broadcast Volume 16.  This is a limited edition Double CD composed of a collection of songs from many different artists and is available for sale the day after Thanksgiving.  Most of the proceeds from the sale of this CD benefit the SIMS Foundation(Services Invested in Musician's Support) which I support.   If anyone is looking for the perfect gift for music lovers these CD's will please for years to come.  KGSR Broadcast Vol. 16 can be preordered at http://www.Waterloorecords.com/ .  Peter

Mitch, I resent you that email.  Those songs titles, according to Zeke, just to whet everyone's appetite  are:

Avalon Pier

Broad Daylight

Same Four Chords

Time and Patience, Patience and Time

Zeke said they were not recorded in the studio so that live recording is probably the only one of these four songs that exists.  But he did also say that there is a cool version of Same Four Chords on a WNCW sampler that he thinks will be really hard to find.  Any of you NC locals up to the challenge of scouring the used record stores?

Oh, yeah, and if it wasn't clear, Harder Feeling is also a Tift original.

Thanks all so much this is a great response to my thread

I got the 2003 Cat's Cradle bootleg so will listen to it again any idea of tracklist for that bootleg

as far a the B&N disk i think its still available to buy, i ordrered one not heard of this have shipped it yet

then of cause the itunes ep is released world wide.

But the two bonus tracks from itunes and for that matter the digital booklet there is no way we in the uk can get them.Is there anyway this can be changed, i undstand the tamberene bonus track when she was on lost highway track may be lost to us. But the bonus track from another country is on her new lable. I of cause would rather pay for them, than get a bootleg of them.

Just a sugestion

Thanks

Chris

I think we need a compilation here, maybe with an official link over on the left side of the frame like the "Songs" link. Two or three columns: Tift originals, recorded; Tift originals, never officially recorded; Tift covers. Maybe a fourth, Tift covers, never officially recorded.

From the Duke-on-Bike or WXDU sessions, which I don't think are listed in this thread but I may be wrong:

Blue Motel
Cadillac
The Last Time I Lost My Man
The Kind I Like
The Longest Way
Sombody
She Cries
Another Man

And while we're writing up the recorded covers, let's not forget

"I'll Be Home for Christmas" from the Acoustic Christmas CD, ca. 2004 or there abouts?

I received this reply from my inquiry to WNCW about the sampler Zeke mentioned.  Well, now we know what its called, so you NC folks get to hunting!

 The Carbines 7"

  1. Juke Joint Girl  - ?
  2. Cowboy - ?

I'm pretty sure these two are Tift originals.

There is also the Tift original "Other Things".  That is on the Foley's San Francisco 2001 recording and its also on some of the live radio appearances that year.

Did someone say something about "Woodstock"?

Phillip deserves the credit for getting this gem some exposure.

Chris,

I forgot about a song called "What Will You Give Me In Return?".  I'm pretty sure its an original and it was played on the Bramble Rose tour, a studio version, if it exists, has never been released.

Also, just a minor correction to your list, Other Things is from 2001 pre-Bramble/Bramble Rose period, not 2003.
