Here's more praise for See You On The Moon from a blogger who appropriates one of Faulkner's most famous titles:
Tift Merritt remains an exceptional and undiscovered (in terms of record sales) alt-country singer-songwriter. Her last album, 2008's Another Country, was a very good album full of great hooks, playing, and of course great singing. The single 'Broken' from that album was one of the best from that year. See You On The Moon is even better. The songs are concise, well crafted, and the album is Tift's most direct yet. The way in which she constructs her songs is her greatest strength as a writer. The melodies, the choruses, and the bridges in each song flow along seamlessly in such a short time span that you feel satisfied... yet crave more. The exceptional tracks 'Six More Days Of Rain', 'All The Reasons We Don't Have To Fight' and 'Feel Of The World' are perfect examples of that. Then there is that voice. When she declares "baby I love you" in that smooth, breathy, and hushed voice on 'Never Talk About it' .......you BELIEVE her. See You On The Moon is stellar and one the best records of the year. |
