Noticed on the Woodsongs site that Tift was listed.  I attedned a show this past winter during a blizzard(for Lexington anyway) and it was a really fun experience.  The folks are extremely friendly. The Kentucky Theater is old and worth seeing.  The shows are aired live on radio  and taped to air later on some PBS stations.  A very inexpensive, intimate opportunity to see Tift.  If you want a chance at being on camera, sit in the front on the right middle as you view the stage.  this area is usually reserved for season ticket holders, but the snow kept them away.  If I were closer to Lexington, I would subsrive for the season.  They get some great acts.

Thanks for the post! It's about time Tift made it onto this show   I've been listening to / watching Woodsongs for a few years, and its great!  Loads of great roots/acoustic/folk groups have been on the show, check out the audio and video archives for a list of the hundreds of previous shows ... http://www.woodsongs.com/showlist.asp

After the live broadcast of each show they archive the performance onto that page in mp3 audio and video format so you can watch/listen/download any previous show for free.  They also do a webacst http://www.woodsongs.com/webcast.php and a podcast http://www.woodsongs.com/woodsongs-podcast.php

Thanks for the post.  This looks like a really choice venue.  Peter

I was very happy to see Tift was listed too.  As you can tell from my typing(promise to proofread in the future). Can't help but wonder why it was not posted on her website?

Woodsongs has amazed me at the acts they are able to get considering it is grass roots, mostly volunteer run venture.  The only downside is that you have to sit through some of the diatribe and songs of Michael Jonathon.  I appreciate what he has created here, but just find the dude a tad creepy.

Missed the first song but caught most of the set as the webstream cooperated somewhat during a thunderstorm & power outage here at home! Dangermuffin from SC also performed.

...
Engine to Turn
Mixtape (with discussion about the 'global mixtape' with the host)
See You on the Moon
All the Reasons We Don't Have to Fight

Michael Jonathon gave a brief lecture on getting out to make your own art & see live performances & go to record stores...and not exclusively sit at home at the computer watching youtube & webstreams...but this sure was nice & convenient! The archives will have the audio in a few weeks, then the video. Very nice catalog of performers there - glad Tift got to appear.

While you wait for access to the audio and video of Tift's performance, you might enjoy a clip from a 2009 Woodsongs performance. Sara Watkins sings, while a familar face backs her up on drums.

Dang, didn't get to see Tift this at Woodsongs but hope she was able to hit "The  Bourbon Trail" between Lexington and Louisville.
