Schuba's does have a good restaurant as part of their building (Harmony Grill).  Kitty-corner from Schuba's is a "Flat Top Grill" where you can choose your own stir-fry ingredients, or eat off the menu.  Walking north on Southport brings you to many more restaurants.  There is a sushi restaurant (Rise) 1/4 mile north of Schuba's on Southport - kind of pricey, though.  There is a less expensive sushi place that is also very good, 1/2 mile north on Southport, Sushi Mura (3647 N Southport).

For organic food and coffee lovers, the Uncommon Ground at Clark and Grace has very good breakfast, lunch or dinner, with all food being organic.  It has acoustic performers in the evening.  Serves liquor, also.  It's less than a mile from Schuba's (3800 N Clark St

Going east on Belmont from Schuba's, Ann Sather's Cafe is 1/2 mile away, and has very good, reasonably priced Scandinavian breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Southern-style food can be found at Wishbone's (3300 N Lincoln Ave), which is 1/4 mile west to Lincoln, then one block north.[/quote]

Another good stop near Schuba's is Uncle Fun.  Not a restaurant, but an old-fashioned toy store that crams thousands of items into a little space.  It's on Belmont, across the street and a little east of Schuba's.

“As for a hotel, a lot of bands stay at Days Inn Lincoln Park.  It used to be known as the Rock n Roll Hotel (there is a page on their website with stories and the bands that have stayed there).  Rates are usually $100-$130 per night.  It is only a mile from Schuba's (downtown is about five miles from Schuba's).”

I was in Chicago this weekend to see Gary Louris and I had time in the day so I went over to check out Schuba's.  Indeed a cool spot, its like an old German American meeting lodge with all this wood panelling and stained glass windows and even a wooden bench like a pew that runs along the wall in the music hall.  I wish I were going to the show, it looks like a cool spot.  I saw posters for Tift's show in the window and another one in the men's room, good job, Chicago Scream Team person!  I took a photo, will try to post if I can figure it out.

Days Inn Lincoln Park was good, but don't stay close to the elevator, it squeeks badly and the rooms are not very sound proof, it woke me up in the morning.  "Go away, Need sleepies!"

The guests were definitely NOT rock 'n' roll , though.  More like retired Midwesterners from the country on vacation in the big city.  There was a wedding party and a bunch of sports fans from Ohio, not sure why.  They were all cracking cans of Bud light from the coolers they were dragging around the lobby, it was quite funny! I'd still recommend it as a good place to stay.  I liked the neighborhood around there, too.  Try some Goose Island beer if you are in town, good local stuff.

Oh and late night food can be had with accompanying abuse at no charge from the folks at the Wiener's Circle on Clark just south of the Days Inn.  Kinda like the Soup Nazi, they yell at you when you don't order right.  All in good fun, though.  The Chicago dog I had hit the spot at 11:30 PM.  Its the place to go after a night in the bar.

And I found out that Kathleen Edwards will be at the Metro the very next night from Tift, how cool is that!  I could've seen Shelby Lynne the night after seeing Gary Louris, too, if I had known about it.  Chicago is a good town for music.

New to Chicago, Need help getting to Wrigley field by Public Transportation from Arlington. Can you also recommend restaurants and bars around the area.

CTA Travel website is not much help, neither is Cubs website. There are other independent sites like publicroutes.com, google transit etc. I am lost with so many sites and none giving complete directions.

Please help!!
