the venue is relatively new (a year or so), and I've never seen a show there.  It's also not in the best neighborhood, so I wouldn't recommend wandering too far on foot after dark.  Apparently, the venue has a really good kitchen, so I would stick with eating there or else driving about 2 miles south to downtown Philly.

I would recommend anyone from out of town stay at one of the downtown hotels.  There is a Comfort Inn Downtown/Historic Area 800-551-2409 about a half-mile from the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall.  The venue is about 3+ miles north.  There is a Best Western 800-551-2409(Independence Park location) right next to Independence Park.  Getting upscale, there are Sheraton's and Hyatt's right in that area too.

As far as getting to the show, there is something called "the Market-Frankford Line" which has stations at a few places along Market street.  You could get on that and go toward Frankford (away from 69th Street) to the Girard Avenue stop.  The venue is about a block and a half to your right on the northeast corner of Frankford and Girard Avenue.  As far as after the show, I wouldn't recommend riding the Market Frankford line but taking a cab.

Good advice on the area... I live not too far from Philly; and the area is dicey... as was the North Star Bar when I saw Tift there in 2002 right after Bramble Rose... luckily my car was there after the show :}
