With Tift's third NC Art Museum show coming up on August 23, I think it is about time that we start rallying the Teens for the show.  Who will be there?  Meeeeeeeee!

I can't believe it.  I went on the Museum web site, http://www.ncartmuseum.org/ , to look at ticket information and all kinds of things have changed since the last time Tift was there.  Besides the fact that the tickets are more expensive (who cares), they now have divided the area into to different sections and also assign seat numbers.  Before, you just bought a ticket and got there early.  No more.  I tried to get tickets in the front middle section where I have always sat (Sec 200 lower) and there were only single seats - I needed three.  So, I moved on to the next best (Sec 200 upper) the only row I could get 3 tickets in was Row I, which I believe is the last row of seats.  What a revolting development.  More than three months in advance and no decent seats.  If any of you are planning to attend I would suggest that you get your tickets TODAY, unless you want to sit on the grass way up at the top or over on the far right side.

Hey!  I went to the NCMA box office a couple of weeks ago to buy tickets & found the same problem - reserved seats!  I got a chance to actually look at the available seating.  I needed three tickets as well & ended up on row H in the 200 section.  I did notice that a lot of the seats had an "H" on them for hold?  Perhaps Tift's contract guarantees her a certain number of reserved seats blocked out for family, etc?

The last time Tift played the NCMA, then I had seats right in the middle lower level.   Anyway, I got my tickets & I am afraid the reserved seats are going to be gone or about gone.

All the best,

Craig

Yes, Tift will have a guest list, but the guest list is never very big and it certainly does not command the best seats. Those are reserved for the people with the money--the people with the money who give that money to the venue, that is. (Sponsors, patrons, donors, high-paying members of the Museum in this case.)

To further add to the fun, August 24th is Tambourine Day - the anniversary of the release of Tambourine, so it would have some added significance (Tift's last Art Museum show was on Bramble Rose Day).

Phillip, don't beat yourself up too badly over not getting us on the front row - Tift probably needs to see some different faces up there, and for that matter some new fans probably deserve a shot at the front. Now, when she returns to the Cat's Cradle (in 20 years?), being at the foot of the stage will be a must.

P, I don't think any of the Teens blame you for the seating situation.  However, I don't agree that Tift needs some new faces in the front.  Giving prime seating to marginal Tift fans who just happen to have given the museum a bunch of money is not a benefit to Tift - it only benefits the museum's fund-raising program.  I can't speak for Tift, but I would think that she would rather look out and see her real fans in the front - those who were willing to get there 2 hours early to get a good seat, rather than a bunch of Raleigh elite fat-cats who wouldn't know Diamond Shoes from Mille Tendresses.

Well, Scott, you may have to be That Guy and just muscle your way down front. In the past, that venue has always kind of worked that they had the seats, but there was that big concrete area in front of the stage where people could come down and stand anyway. Hopefully they won't be obnoxious and have that roped off or something this year.

Wish we were going to be there to see all of you, but hopefully P. has convinced you to come visit our fair city and watch Tift at our new outdoor arena here.
