In between the drizzly weather and a few pints of extra-cold Guinness, had some success in Nottingham on Saturday...
Met up with Vicky and we got posters, postcards and flyers put up @ Selectadisc (big independent store, they sell tickets for T's show).  Left postcards all over the place at the Slug & Lettuce pub....   Also hit the bar at Rescue Rooms. They had loads of posters for other bands on display, but none for T's show - so we immediately put that right, pinning up posters/flyers in the bar and postcards on the table, oh and posters went up in the gents/ladies toilets too!

Paul, these are the posters you get if you join Tift's Screaming TEAM (check the thread here for the details.... http://www.tiftmerritt.net/Forums/tabid/55/forumid/1/tpage/1/view/topic/postid/3984/Default.aspx#3984 )

Contact Phillip Reid if you want some more info and are able to help

Some of the posters even made it up on the walls... there was hard work involved (for some ) it wasn't all fun, fun, fun....

Andy, it's good to see you used thumbtacks and not staples.

Thanks Andy, done You fans in England have an unfair advantage when it comes to Tift's shows. The country is so small that when she comes over for a week or so you guys only have to travel a couple hundred miles from home. If that were the case here heck I'd see her every night. How many shows do you two plan on going to?

Hey Paul,

Yes, we are lucky with tours this year!  But some American bands give up touring Europe because it's not financially viable for them, so it's not all good.

I'm going to 3 or 4 headline shows plus one festival in July.

I didn't know that Vicky, I thought they made money wherever they went We get quite a few big acts here in MPLS/ St. Paul but I sure couldn't  afford 3 or 4 of them, maybe in a year but not in a month. It's funny, Cindy Lauper and the Colours Tour played in MPLS this past weekend and only drew 3000 people. It REALLY bombed here.

That's funny, I just booked to see Cyndi Lauper over here in October and she's playing 3000 venues which is big here!  That's why American bands don't always make money here - the venues are smaller.  It costs a lot to fly over, then they have hotels, travel costs etc.  So if they are only playing to 200 people, like Tift does at the moment, it's hard to make a profit.

Think positive about Tift shows Paul.  She could easily be touring for another 20 years.  Think how many times you could see her!

Glad you like em.  We really did put up some posters and flyers inbetween Guinness.  I've been leaving postcards all round London too.  Strange how quickly it becomes second nature!

She played at the Target (the department store chain) Center in DT Mpls. It holds around 20,000 so you can imagine how that 3000 looked. I don't know how much the tickets sold for but even with a 2 for 1 offer later in the sale only 3000 showed up. Hope she has better luck on your side of the pond and I know you'll like the show if your planning to go already.

I sure hope Tift will be touring 20 years from know but by then I don't think they'll let me out of the home to go And besides (crackely old voice) Tiffff who! YOU'LL HAVE TO SPEAK UP!
